We feel the manufacturing of goods should not in any
way harm
the environment we are living in. The Company, to fulfill this commitment, has gone a long way in
protecting the
environment from air and water pollution.
We can proudly say VINDHYACHAL DISTILLERIES IS ZERO DISCHARGE distillery since 2015.
To fulfill this commitment the company has gone a long way in protecting the environment from Air and Water pollution right since inception in 1987. The process to treat Distillery Effluent has changed over the years starting with 4 lagoons of size 80-meter x 40-meter x 4 meter and 1 lagoon of size 100 meters x 180 meters x 4 meters. In the year 1992, the company put up Primary Effluent Treatment with Canadian Technology generating Methane gas that was used in the boiler for generation of steam thus reducing coal consumption substantially.
In the year 1997, Secondary Effluent Treatment was commissioned with
Trickling Filter Technology.
In the year 2001 another Primary Effluent Treatment Plant with Japanese
Technology based on Methane gas, was commissioned.
In the year 2004, we commissioned 3 Turbomist Evaporators, imported from Canada, to achieve Zero Discharge. It was based on the principle of Enhanced Natural Evaporation. The 4th Evaporator was added in 2005. All India Distillers Association(AIDA) held a Technical committee meeting of its members at our Distillery on 7 January 2005 to view these Evaporators in operation.
With changing times and changing technologies, as per CPCB and State Pollution Broad norms, we commissioned Multi-Effect Evaporator, Dryer, Electro Static Precipitator and Air Monitoring System in 2015.
A lot of tree plantation is there in and around the distillery.
